The column is misaligned.

1. Inspect the following components:

•	The column

•	Verify that the alignment is correct.

•	The mounting

•	The bearings

2. Adjust , repair and/or replace the components as needed.

Refer to Steering Column Replacement .

The shaft seal is deformed or improperly installed.

1. Inspect for proper installation.
2. Reseat the seal.
3. Tighten the seal to specifications.
4. Replace the seal as needed.

The intermediate shaft universal joint is worn.

Clean, inspect and replace as needed.
