Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

Use a scan tool in order to perform the SPEED GAUGE SWEEP TEST.

Does the speedometer perform a full sweep when commanded?

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 4

1. Start the engine.
2. Use a scan tool in order to read the VSS signal parameter in the SPI DATA list.

Is the vehicle speed signal reading active?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 5

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Test the vehicle speed signal circuit between the PCM and the cluster for an open or a short. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Repairs.

Did you find and correct the condition?

System OK
