J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the front tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
3. Remove the fenderliner as required. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement .
4. Use J 38778 to remove the push-in retainers holding the engine splash shield to the lower flange of the engine compartment side rail.
5. Remove the bolts from the engine splash shield.
6. Remove the engine splash shield from the lower flange of the engine compartment side rail.

1. Position the engine splash shield to the lower flange of the engine compartment side rail.
2. Align the holes in the engine splash shield to the holes in the outboard side engine compartment side rail.
3. Install the push-in retainers to the engine splash shield.
4. Install the screws to the engine splash shield.

Tighten
Tighten the engine splash shield screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

5. Install the fenderliner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement .
6. Install the front tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
7. Lower the vehicle.
