The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment about a transmission fluid leak from the left axle area.
Recommendation/Instructions:
It has been determined that certain Malibu's with LZ9 engines and M15 transmissions were assembled with incorrect half shafts. The correct half shaft will have a chrome appearance on the insertion end. The insertion end is also larger in diameter on the correct half shaft.
Follow SI2000 procedures for removal and replacement of the left half shaft.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
