Removal Procedure

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.

  3. Object Number: 185645 Size: SH
  4. Release the hose clamp (1) in order to remove the upper (inlet) hose (3) from the radiator (2).
  5. Raise and properly support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  6. Remove the lower (outlet) hose from the radiator by releasing the hose clamp.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Release the hose clamp in order to remove the overflow hose from the radiator.

  9. Object Number: 185643 Size: SH
  10. Remove the radiator cooling fan electrical connector (1).
  11. Remove the transaxle cooler hoses from the bottom radiator tank (automatic transaxle equipped vehicle).
  12. Remove two upper radiator/fan mounting bolts.

  13. Object Number: 185647 Size: SH
  14. Remove the fan and the radiator from the vehicle as a unit.
  15. Remove one lower mounting bolt in order to remove the fan from the radiator.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the radiator cooling fan to the radiator.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Secure the fan with one lower mounting bolt.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the lower radiator cooling fan mounting bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
