Vehicle Speed Sensor Replacement Automatic Transmission

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 243550  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) .
  2. Remove the bolt (2) and the VSS (3) from the top of the transaxle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the VSS (3) to the transaxle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Secure the VSS with the bolt (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 8 N·m (72 lb in).

  5. Connect the VSS electrical connector (1).

Vehicle Speed Sensor Replacement Manual Transmission

The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is part of the speedometer. The VSS cannot be serviced separately from the speedometer. Refer to Speedometer Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console for service of the speedometer and VSS.
