Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the powertrain control module (PCM). Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement 1.0L or Powertrain Control Module Replacement 1.3L in Engine Controls.
  2. Disconnect the blower motor and the blower motor resistor electrical connectors.

  4. Disconnect the fresh/recirc control cable (3) from the blower case (4).

  5. Object Number: 354263  Size: SH
  6. Remove the 3 bolts (1) and the blower case from the vehicle.
  7. Disconnect the air hose between the blower motor and the blower case.

  8. Object Number: 354266  Size: SH
  9. Remove the 3 screws (1) and the blower motor (3) from the blower case.

  10. Object Number: 354268  Size: SH
  11. Remove the blower fan (3) from the motor (if needed).
  12. Replace the RECIRC door if the rubber flapper door in the center of the RECIRC door shows any signs of deterioration.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the blower fan (3) to the motor (if needed).

  2. Object Number: 354266  Size: SH
  3. Install the blower motor (3) to the blower case (2). Secure the blower case with 3 screws (1).
  4. Connect the air hose to the blower case and the blower motor.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the blower case to the vehicle. Secure the blower case with 3 bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the blower case bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Connect the fresh/recirc air control cable (3) to the blower case (4).
  9. Connect the electrical connectors to the blower motor and the blower motor resistor.
  10. Install the PCM. Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement 1.0L or Powertrain Control Module Replacement 1.3L in Engine Controls.
  11. Adjust the fresh/recirc control cable. Refer to Vent Control Cable Adjustment .
