  1. Disconnect connector C310 located beneath the rear passenger seat. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats for access.
  2. Connect a J 36169-A from cavity 1 (YEL/RED) wire of connector C310 (floor harness side) and ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Does the fuel gauge indicate F?

--

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 10

3

Test for continuity using a J 39200 between cavity 1 (YEL/RED) wire of connector C310 (fuel harness side) and ground.

The measured resistance should be approximately 0 - 130 ohms depending on the amount of fuel in the fuel tank.

Was the expected amount of resistance measured in the YEL/RED wire?

--

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 4

4

  1. Disconnect connector C300 located beneath the rear passenger seat. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats for access.
  2. Test for continuity between cavity 1 (YEL/RED wire) of connector C310 (fuel harness side) and cavity 2 (BLK wire) of connector C300 (fuel harness side).

The measured resistance should be approximately 0 - 130 ohms depending on the amount of fuel in the fuel tank.

Was the expected amount of resistance measured in the BLK wire?

--

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

5

With Connector C300 still disconnected.

Test for continuity between cavity 2 (BLK wire) of connector C300 (floor harness side) and ground.

Was there continuity in the BLK wire?

--

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 9

6

Inspect the fuel harness wires and connectors for damage. Refer to Fuel Sender Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls for access.

Was there damage found?

--

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 8

7

Repair or replace the damaged wires and connectors. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

10

  1. Disconnect the IP cluster assembly connector C3. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement or access.
  2. Disconnect the powertrain control module connector C2.
  3. Connect a J 39200 DMM from the IP cluster connector C3 cavity 9 to cavity 1 of connector C310 (floor harness side).
  4. Measure the resistance.

Is the measured resistance less than the specified value?

2 ohms

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 13

11

Inspect the IP cluster printed circuit for cracks and poor connections.

Is the circuit OK?
