Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the hood (4).
  2. Install protective covers over the fenders in order to prevent paint damage.
  3. Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

  4. Mark the position of the hinges (3) to the hood (4) for ease of assembly.
  5. Remove the 2 retaining bolts from each hinge (3).
  6. With the help of an assistant, remove the hood (4) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Anti-corrosion compounds have been applied to the interior surfaces of some metal panels to provide rust resistance. When servicing these panels in areas on which this material has been disturbed, or when installing new panels, avoid corrosion damage by coating with anti-corrosion compound.

  1. Align the hood (4) with the position marks. Secure the hood with 4 retaining bolts. Do NOT fully tighten the bolts.
  2. Adjust the following clearances. Refer to Body Front End Adjustment Specifications .
  3. • The hood-to-cowl vent grill (1) clearance
    • The hood-to-headlamp clearance
    • The hood-to-front fender clearance

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Adjust the rubber bumpers (1) for vertical alignment by turning up or down. Refer to Body Front End Adjustment Specifications .
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the hood retaining bolts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  6. Lower the hood.
