Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 1998 🢒 Metro 🢒 General Information 🢒 General Information 🢒 Power Steering System Bleeding

    Notice: When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use the proper power steering fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Turn the wheels all the way to the left.
  3. Shut the engine off.
  4. Add the power steering fluid to the reservoir until the level reaches the MIN mark on the level indicator.
  5. Start the engine. Run the engine at a fast idle for about 15 seconds.
  6. Shut the engine off.
  7. Recheck the fluid level.

    8. If necessary, add fluid in order to bring the level to the MIN mark again.

  8. Start the engine.
  9. Turn the wheels from side to side 3 or 4 times in order to bleed the power steering system.
  10. Shut the engine off.
  11. Inspect the fluid level.

    12. Fluid with air has a light tan appearance. Eliminate this air from the system fluid in order to obtain the normal steering action.

  12. Repeat this procedure until the fluid is purged of air.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
