Removal Procedure

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.

  3. Object Number: 185645 Size: SH
  4. Release the hose clamp (2) in order to remove the upper hose (3) from the radiator.

  5. Object Number: 185643 Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector on the radiator cooling fan (1).
  7. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  8. Remove one lower mounting bolt from the fan shroud.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Remove the 2 bolts that mount the cooling fan to the upper radiator.
  11. Remove the fan from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the radiator cooling fan to the vehicle.
  2. Insert the two upper bolts through the two bolt holes in the upper fan shroud.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the fan and the radiator to the core support.
  5. Tighten
Tighten the two bolts that mount the cooling fan to the upper radiator to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Raise the vehicle, and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  7. Install the lower mounting bolt to the fan shroud.
  8. Tighten
Tighten the lower mounting bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Lower the vehicle.

  10. Object Number: 185643 Size: SH
  11. Connect the electrical connector on the radiator cooling fan (1).

  12. Connect the upper hose to the radiator.

  13. Object Number: 185645 Size: SH
  14. Secure the hose (3) with a hose clamp (2).
  15. Refill the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  16. Connect the negative battery cable.
