Installation

    Object Number: 1657466 Size: SH
  1. Position the preconverter to the exhaust manifold, then install the preconverter to exhaust manifold bolts (3). Do not fully tighten the bolts.
  2. Connect the front pipe, with a new seal, to the preconverter assembly and secure with two bolts. Do not fully tighten the bolts.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Align all system components before tightening the fasteners, in order to prevent noise or vibrations.
  5. Tighten

        • Tighten the preconverter bolts to 28 N·m (20 lb ft).
        • Tighten the front pipe assembly-to-exhaust preconverter assembly bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
