Removal Procedure
- Remove the clutch cable adjustment nut (3) from the clutch cable end at the clutch release lever (4).
- Remove the clutch cable clevis (1) from the clutch pedal lever.
- Release the tension on the clutch pedal return spring.
- Remove the clutch pedal shaft bolt (4) and the nut from the clutch and from the brake pedal bracket (3).
- Remove the clutch pedal assembly from the clutch and from the brake pedal bracket.
- Inspect the clutch pedal shaft bushings (5) for excessive wear. Replace the clutch pedal shaft bushings as necessary.
- Inspect the clutch pedal return spring (7) for distortion or for damage. Replace the clutch pedal return spring as necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Apply tension to the free end of the clutch pedal return spring (7), and position the spring into the clutch and into the brake pedal bracket (3).
- Apply some lithium grease GM P/N 1051344 to the bushings.
- Install the clutch pedal assembly into the clutch and into the brake pedal bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the clutch pedal shaft bolt (4) and the nut (14) into the clutch and into the brake pedal bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the clutch pedal shaft bolt and the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the clutch cable clevis onto the clutch pedal lever.
Important: Refer to
