Excessive back pressure in the steering gear

1. Inspect the steering gear for restrictions. Refer to Power Steering System Test .
2. Repair the steering gear, if necessary. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

Scored pressure plate

1. Inspect the pressure plate for scores.
2. Replace the pressure plate, if necessary. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement or Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Scored thrust plate

1. Inspect the thrust plate for scores.
2. Replace the thrust plate, if necessary. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement or Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Scored rotor

1. Inspect the rotor for scores.
2. Replace the rotor, if necessary. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement or Power Steering Pump Replacement .

Worn pump ring

1. Inspect the pump ring.
