Generator Brace Replacement 3100 L82 (VIN M) Rear

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 45671 Size: SH
  1. Remove the generator rear brace stud from the generator.
  2. Remove the generator rear brace nut from the engine stud on the engine intake manifold.
  3. Remove the generator rear brace.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 45671 Size: SH
  1. Install the generator rear brace to the generator and to the engine stud on the intake manifold.
  2. Finger tighten the generator rear brace stud to the generator.

    3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the generator rear brace nut to the engine stud on the engine intake manifold.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the generator rear brace nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Tighten the generator rear brace stud.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the generator rear brace stud to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

Generator Brace Replacement 3100 L82 (VIN M) Front

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the generator front brace nut at the engine intake manifold.
  2. Remove the generator bolt.
  3. Remove the generator front brace assembly.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 45671 Size: SH
  1. Position the generator front brace assembly to the generator and the engine stud on the engine intake manifold.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener.   2. Install the generator bolt.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the generator bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  3. Install the generator front brace nut at the engine intake manifold.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the generator front brace nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

Generator Brace Replacement 3800 L36 (VIN K) Rear

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 45675 Size: SH
  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  2. Disconnect the vacuum booster hose.
  3. Remove the generator brace bracket bolts from the generator rear brace and the generator brace bracket.
  4. Remove the generator rear brace bolt from the generator rear brace and the generator.
  5. Remove the generator rear brace.

  1. Install the generator rear brace.
  2. Install the generator brace bolt through the generator rear brace to the generator.
  3. Install the generator brace bracket bolts through the generator rear brace and into the generator brace bracket.

    4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.     5. Tighten
    Tighten the generator rear brace bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Tighten the generator brace bracket bolts.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the generator brace bracket bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Connect the vacuum booster hose.
  7. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.

Generator Brace Replacement 3800 L36 (VIN K) Front

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the generator front brace nuts.
  2. Remove the generator front brace from the engine.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the generator front brace to the engine.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  2. Remove the generator brace bracket bolts from the generator rear brace and the generator brace bracket.
  3. Remove the generator bolt from the generator rear brace and the generator.
  4. Remove the generator rear brace.

  1. Install the generator rear brace.
  2. Install the generator bolt through the generator and into the generator rear brace.
  3. Install the generator brace bracket bolts through the generator rear brace and into the generator brace bracket.
