Power Steering Hoses Replacement 3.8L

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Front Suspension.

  4. Object Number: 294335  Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering pump.
  6. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering cooler pipe.
  7. Remove the rubber section of the power steering return hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 294335  Size: SH
  1. Install the rubber section of the power steering return hose to the vehicle.
  2. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering cooler pipe.
  3. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.
  4. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  5. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Front Suspension.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Fill the power steering system. Refer to Refilling the Power Steering System .
  8. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  9. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to External Leakage Check .

Power Steering Hoses Replacement 3.1L

Removal Procedure

  1. Place the drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any fluid that may drain.

  2. Object Number: 283000  Size: MH
  3. Loosen the clamps (4) on the following components:
  4. • The power steering pump return port.
    • The power steering pump return line.
  5. Disconnect the rubber section of the power steering return hose (2) from the power steering return line assembly and the power steering pump return port.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 283000  Size: MH
  1. connect the rubber section of the power steering return hose (2) to the power steering return line assembly and the power steering pump return port.
  2. Tighten the clamps (4) on the following components:
  3. • The power steering pump return port.
    • The power steering pump return line.
  4. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  5. Fill the power steering system. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  6. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  7. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks .
