Power Steering Hoses Replacement 3.8L
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Front
Suspension.
- Remove the power steering
return hose from the power steering pump.
- Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering
cooler pipe.
- Remove the rubber section of the power steering return hose from
the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rubber section
of the power steering return hose to the vehicle.
- Install the power steering return hose to the power steering cooler
pipe.
- Install the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.
- Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Front
Suspension.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the power steering system. Refer to
Refilling the Power Steering System
.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
- Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to
External Leakage Check
.
Power Steering Hoses Replacement 3.1L
Removal Procedure
- Place the drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any fluid
that may drain.
- Loosen the clamps (4)
on the following components:
• | The power steering pump return port. |
• | The power steering pump return line. |
- Disconnect the rubber section of the power steering return hose (2)
from the power steering return line assembly and the power steering pump return
port.
Installation Procedure
- connect the rubber section
of the power steering return hose (2) to the power steering return
line assembly and the power steering pump return port.
- Tighten the clamps (4) on the following components:
• | The power steering pump return port. |
• | The power steering pump return line. |
- Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
- Fill the power steering system. Refer to
Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid
.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
- Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to
Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks
.
