The EBCM contains sophisticated on-board diagnostics
that can detect and often isolate system malfunctions. When a malfunction
is detected, the EBCM sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). There are 55 diagnostic
trouble codes that assist with diagnostics. The DTC represents the malfunction,
turns on the ABS and Low Trac off indicators, and may disable the ABS functions.
The EBCM can also diagnose whether the malfunction is intermittent.
The following actions occur when using the Scan Tool with the ABS:
• | The Scan Tool specifically identifies the last DTC. |
• | The specific ABS data stores at the time of the malfunction. |
• | Information about the first three DTCs set and the last DTC set
becomes available. |
• | The input and output can be monitored. |
• | Malfunction confirmation and repair verification are enabled. |
• | The manual control of components and the automated functional
tests become available. |
