Action

Air in the power steering system

  1. Inspect the power steering system. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  2. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Loose joints from the column to the steering gear

  1. Inspect the joints from the column to the steering gear.
  2. Replace the joints from the column to the steering gear if necessary. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .

Misadjusted rack bearings preload

Tighten the rack bearings preload to specification.

Loose steering gear attachments

  1. Service the steering gear attachments. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .
  2. Replace the steering gear attachments. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

Loose tie rod ends

Inspect the tie rod ends.

Replace the tie rod ends. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .

Worn wheel bearings

Replace the hub and bearing. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Bearing Replacement in Front Suspension.
