Inspect the tape player for an obstruction through the tape door.

Is there an obstruction?

Perform the motor speed test. Refer to Tape Player Diagnostic Check .

Is the motor speed OK?

Go to Radio/Audio System Check

Go to Step 5

Important: Improper removal may damage the tape player.

1. Remove the obstruction.
2. Inspect and clean the following components:

•	The moving parts

•	The tape head

•	Refer to Cassette Player Care and Cleaning for service procedure.

3. Use the cleaning cassette.
4. Use the diagnostic test tape from J 39916-A for service procedure.

Does the test tape operate correctly?

Service the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement for service procedure.
