  1. Pull the cigar lighter out of the cigar lighter housing.
  2. Install a functioning cigar lighter into the cigar lighter housing.
  3. Push in the cigar lighter completely.

Does the new cigar lighter pop out to the edge of the cigar lighter housing and is the filament hot?

Replace the cigar lighter. Refer to Cigar Lighter Housing Replacement - Instrument Panel for service procedure.

Use a DMM in order to inspect FUSE 1 for an open.

Is FUSE 1 open?

--

Go to Step 4

  1. Use a DMM in order to inspect circuit 1240 from FUSE 1 terminal A10 to connector C240 terminal A for a short to ground.
  2. Replace FUSE 1.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Cigar Lighter/Auxiliary Outlets System Check

Systems OK

Use a test lamp in order to backprobe between the cigar lighter connector terminal A and ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

--

Go to Step 7

Repair the open or short to ground in circuit 1240.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Cigar Lighter/Auxiliary Outlets System Check

Systems OK

Use a test lamp in order to backprobe between the cigar lighter connector terminal B and ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Repair the poor connection or open in circuit 150.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the cigar lighter housing. Refer to Cigar Lighter Housing Replacement - Instrument Panel for service procedure.
