Has the vehicle been inspected for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)?

Inspect the fuel gauge.

Does the fuel gauge work?

--

Go to Step 3

Refer to All Gauges, and Indicators Inop except Turn Signal, High Beam, Seatbelt Indicators and Illumination Lamps

  1. Disconnect the engine oil level sensor connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper between the engine oil level sensor harness connector terminal A and ground.

Is the low oil level indicator ON?

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the powertrain control module connector C2.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Is the low oil level indicator ON?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

  1. Inspect for a short to ground on CKT 1173.
  2. If OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  3. Inspect the system.

Is the symptom still present?

--

Go to Step 6

System OK

  1. Inspect for a poor connection or an open in CKT 1174.
  2. If OK, replace the powertrain control module. Refer to Engine Controls.
  3. Inspect the system.

Is the symptom still present?

Go to Step 7

Connect a 3 amp fused jumper between the engine oil level sensor harness connector terminals A and B.

Is the low oil level indicator ON?

--

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 9

  1. Inspect for a poor connection at the engine oil level sensor connector.
  2. If OK, replace the engine oil level sensor. Refer to Engine Controls.
  3. Inspect the system.

Is the symptom still present?

--

Go to Step 9

System OK

  1. Repair the poor connection or the open in CKT 451 between the engine oil level sensor harness connector terminal B and G113.
  2. Inspect the system.

Is the symptom still present?
