  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Observe the instrument cluster gages and indicators.

Do the ignition cluster gages and indicators turn on?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Disconnect the seat belt/ ignition key/ lamps alarm electrical connector.
  3. Probe between the seat belt/ ignition key/ lamps alarm electrical connector terminal D2 and the ground.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position while observing the test light.

Is the test light on?

Inspect Fuse 39 in the fuse block.

Is Fuse 39 open?

--

Go to Step 4

  1. Replace Fuse 39.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Inspect Fuse 39.

Is Fuse 39 open again?

--

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 9

  1. Inspect for a poor connection or an open between Fuse 39 terminal C1 and the ignition switch CKT 3.
  2. Repair as needed.

Go to Step 9

  1. Repair short to ground in CKT 39.
  2. Repair as needed.

Has the repair been made?

  1. Inspect the seat belt/ ignition key/ lamps alarm connector for an open or poor contact at terminal D2.
  2. Replace the seat belt/ ignition key/ lamps alarm as needed. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement .

Repair the poor connection or an open in CKT 39.

Has the repair been made?

Go to Step 9

  1. Ensure the ignition switch is in the LOCK position.
  2. Reconnect any of the connectors/components removed.
