Removal Procedure
- Remove the sill plate. Refer to
Door Sill Plate Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the screws (5) from the front fender and rear quarter
panel.
- Remove the nut (6) from the front fender.
- Remove the retainers (2)
from the bottom of the rocker panel molding (1).
Important: Do not break off the integral molding clips when you remove the molding
from the body.
- Unsnap the clips (7) and removing the tabs (3) and the
stud from the body.
Remove the rocker panel molding.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rocker panel
molding clips (7) to the rear quarter panel.
- Push the rear of the rocker panel molding (1) forward in
order to ensure a flush fit with the quarter panel flange at the wheel opening.
- Install the rocker panel molding tabs (3) by snapping the
tabs into the door slots.
- Install the rocker panel molding stud to the front fender.
- Push the front of the rocker panel molding rearward in order to
ensure a flush fit with the fender flange at the wheel opening.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install and tighten
the nuts (6) to the front fender.
- Install the screw to the front fender at the wheel well.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the screw to the bottom of the front fender.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the screws to the rear quarter panel at the wheel well.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the retainers (2) to the bottom of the rocker panel
molding.
- Install the sill plate. Refer to
Door Sill Plate Replacement
in Interior Trim.
