Inspect the lock assembly and the rear compartment lid lock release solenoid for mechanical interference.

Is there mechanical interference?

  1. Repair or replace the rear compartment lid lock release solenoid or lock assembly, as needed. Refer to Lock Release Solenoid.
  2. Inspect the system.

Is the symptom still present?

  1. Replace the rear compartment lid lock release solenoid. Refer to Lock Release Solenoid.
  2. Inspect the system.

  1. Disconnect the rear compartment lid release switch.
  2. Use the test lamp in order to backprobe between the rear compartment lid release switch connector terminal B CKT 56 and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Replace the rear compartment lid release switch.
  2. Inspect the system.

  1. Disconnect the RCDLR.
  2. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe between the rear compartment lid lock release switch connector terminal B CKT 56 and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Repair a short to B+ in CKT 56 between the rear compartment lid release switch and the rear compartment lid lock release solenoid.
  2. Inspect the system.

Is the symptom still present?

  1. Repair a short to B+ in CKT 56 between the rear compartment lid release switch and the RCDLR.
  2. Inspect the system.

Is the symptom still present?

  1. Disconnect the RCDLR.
  2. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe between the RCDLR connector terminal G382 and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Repair a short to B+ in CKT 56/382 between the rear compartment lid lock release solenoid and the RCDLR.
  2. Inspect the system.
