CAMPAIGN: HIGH ALTITUDE CO EXHAUST EMISSIONS

Subject: PRODUCT EMISSION CAMPAIGN 88C30(a) - HIGH ALTITUDE CO EXHAUST EMISSIONS --- SUPPLEMENT --- ModelandYear: 1988 CHEVROLET NOVA WITH 1.6L ENGINE (RPO LC9)

To: All Chevrolet Dealers

It has come to our attention that vehicles which have relocated to the four affected states from California have been inadvertently included in this campaign. Vehicles in these states which are equipped with California emissions systems (RPO YF5) do not require campaign repair under this program. California emissions system vehicles can be identified by reading the notation on the lower portion of the vehicle tune-up label or by checking for RPO YF5 on the service parts identification label (located on the spare tire cover). The following inspection labor operation is provided to close this campaign on California emission vehicles.

Notice: No campaign corrections are required on California emission system vehicles since the campaign repair is not compatible with these vehicles.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
