Removal Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 21474-4 Control Arm Bushing Set
    • J 21474-18 Nut
    • J 21474-19 Bolt
    • J 21474-27Bolt
    • J 41211  Front Control Arm Bushing Kit
    • J 41397 Lower Control Arm Bushings Remover/Installer
  1. Remove the lower control arm. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement.

    2. Object Number: 534367 Size: SH
  2. Secure the lower control arm in a vice.

    3. Important: Apply J 23444 A (or equivalent high pressure lubricant) to the threads of the J 21474-19 Bolt.

  3. Assemble the following bushing removal tools as shown:
    4. • J 21474-19 Bolt
    • The remover/installer from the J 41397Lower Control Arm Bushings Remover/Installer
    • The receiver from the J 41397 Lower Control Arm Bushings Remover/Installer
    • J 21474-18 Nut
  4. Tighten the J 21474-18 Nut until the front bushing is removed from the control arm.
  5. Disassemble the bushing removal tools.

    6. Object Number: 534378 Size: SH
  6. Assemble the following bushing removal tools as shown:
    7. • J 21474-27 Bolt
    • The remover/installer from the J 41211 Front Control Arm Bushing Kit
    • The receiver from the J 41211 Front Control Arm Bushing Kit
    • J 21474-4 Control Arm Bushing Set
  7. Tighten the J 21474-27 Bolt until the rear bushing is removed from the control arm.
  8. Disassemble the bushing removal tools.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 534383 Size: SH
  1. Insert the rear bushing into the control arm.

    2. Important: Apply J 23444 A (or equivalent high pressure lubricant) to the threads of the J 21474-27 Bolt.

  2. Assemble the following bushing installation tools as shown:
    3. • J 21474-27 Bolt
    • The receiver/installer from the J 41211 Lower Control Arm Vertical Bushing Set
    • The receiver from the J 41211 Lower Control Arm Vertical Bushing Set
    • J 21474-4 Nut
  3. Tighten the J 21474-4 Nut until the rear bushing is fully seated in the control arm.
  4. Disassemble the bushing installation tools.

    5. Object Number: 534373 Size: SH
  5. Lubricate the outer casing of the front bushing.
  6. Insert the front bushing into the control arm.
  7. Assemble the following bushing installation tools as shown:
    8. • J 21474-19 Bolt
    • The remover/installer from the J 41397 Lower Control Arm Bushings
    • The receiver from the J 41397 Lower Control Arm Bushings
    • J 21474-18 Nut
  8. Tighten the J 21474-19 Bolt until the front bushing is fully seated in the control arm.
  9. Disassemble the bushing installation tools.
  10. Install the lower control arm. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement.
