Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-2.4L.
  2. Remove the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement.
  3. Remove the vacuum brake booster hose. Refer to Vacuum Brake Booster Hose Replacement.

  4. Object Number: 583661  Size: SH
  5. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod (12) from the brake pedal (9).
  6. Remove the vacuum brake booster mounting nuts (10).
  7. Remove the vacuum brake booster (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 583661  Size: SH
  1. Install the vacuum brake booster (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the vacuum brake booster mounting nuts (10).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting nuts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  5. Install the vacuum brake booster pushrod (12) to the brake pedal (9).
  6. Install the vacuum brake booster hose. Refer to Vacuum Brake Booster Hose Replacement.
  7. Install the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement.
  8. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-2.4L.
