Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the right sound insulator panel. Refer to Sound Insulator Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  2. Object Number: 583661  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the pushrod (12) from the brake pedal assembly (9).
  4. Remove the vacuum booster nuts (10) from the brake pedal assembly (9).
  5. Remove the lower stoplamp switch bracket nuts (7) from the brake pedal assembly (9).
  6. Remove the brake pedal assembly (9) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the brake pedal assembly (9) to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the lower stoplamp switch bracket nuts (7) to the brake pedal assembly (9). Hand tighten the nuts.
  4. Install the vacuum booster nuts (10) to the brake pedal assembly (9).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 20 N·m(15 lb ft).

  6. Lubricate the pushrod clevis pin with silicone grease.
  7. Connect the pushrod (12) to the brake pedal assembly (9).
  8. Install the right sound insulator panel. Refer to Sound Insulator Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
