Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 42450-A Hub Cleaning Kit
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the
Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and
Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement.
- Remove the brake rotor (1)
from the hub.
Notice: Whenever the brake rotor has been separated from the wheel bearing flange,
clean any rust or foreign material from the mating surface of the rotor and
flange with the J 42450 hub cleaning kit. Failure to do
this may result in increased lateral runout of the rotor and brake pulsation.
- Clean the hub using J 42450-A
.
Installation Procedure
Important: If installing a new rotor, the gray anti-corrosion protection does not
require removing. If the rotor has another type of protection remove using
denatured alcohol.
- Install the brake rotor (1) to the hub.
- Install the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement.
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and
Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
