Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Observe the high beam indicator on the instrument cluster.

Does the indicator illuminate during the bulb check?

Go to Step 3

  1. Place the headlamp switch in the HEAD position.
  2. Turn the high beams on.
  3. Observe the high beam indicator.

Does the indicator illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 5

Test the high beam signal circuit between the headlamp switch and the inverter module for a high resistance or an open.

Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Test the high beam signal circuit between the inverter module and the body control module (BCM) for a high resistance or an open.

Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the instrument cluster (IPC). Refer to IP Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Did you complete the repair?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connectors of the BCM and the inverter module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

  1. Disconnect the inverter module harness connector.
  2. Use a 3 amp fused jumper wire in order to ground terminal E of the inverter module harness connector.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Does the high beam indicator illuminate and remain on?

Go to Step 10

Replace the inverter module.

Did you complete the replacement?

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Important: Perform the setup procedure for the BCM. Refer to BCM Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.
