Playing a Cassette Tape

The cassette tape player is built to work best with cassette tapes that are up to 30 to 45 minutes long on each side. Cassette tapes longer than 30 to 45 minutes are so thin they may not work well in this player. The longer side with the cassette tape visible should face to the right. If the ignition is on, but the radio is off, the cassette tape can be inserted and will begin playing. If you hear nothing but a garbled sound, the cassette tape may not be in squarely. Press the eject button to remove the cassette tape and start over.

While the cassette tape is playing, use the VOL, FAD, BAL, TREB, BASS, SEEK, and SCAN controls just as you do for the radio. Up will appear on the display if the top side of the cassette tape is being playing. DN will appear if the bottom side is playing.

If the cassette tape player detects a tight or broken cassette tape, ERR (error) will appear on the display and the player will eject the cassette tape. The radio will go back to playing the last station selected.

The Theftlock feature works automatically by learning a portion of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). If the radio is moved to a different vehicle, it will not operate and LOC will be displayed.

When the Theftlock feature is activated, the radio will not operate if stolen.
