Improperly controlled relative motion between vehicle components causes squeaks and rattles. The following 3 measures may prevent a squeak or a rattle:

    • Attach the components securely. Ensure that there is no relative motion during operation of the vehicle.
    • Separate the components. Ensure that there is no contact under vehicle operating conditions.
    • Insulate the components in order to ensure that squeaks or rattles do not occur with relative motion between the vehicle components.
Low uniform friction surfaces may eliminate "stick-slip" motion.
