DEFINITION: This diagnostic table tests for power mirrors horizontal and vertical inoperative only. Refer to power folding mirrors inoperative for power folding mirrors inoperative.

Did you review the power mirrors operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Operate the power mirrors in all directions.

Are all directions inoperative?

Go to Step 3

Disconnect the power mirror switch and connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit and a known good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Connect a test lamp between the ground circuit and battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 11

  1. Disconnect the outside power mirror connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the mirror motor up circuit and ground.
  3. Press the up position of the switch.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

Go to Step 6

  1. With a test lamp connected between the mirror motor right circuit and ground.
  2. Press the right position of the switch.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

  1. With a test lamp connected between the mirror motor right/down circuit and ground.
  2. Press the right and down position of the switch.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

Test the mirror motor up circuit for an open or short to ground.

Test the mirror motor right circuit for an open or short to ground.
