DEFINITION: This diagnostic table tests for a driver side window express mode inoperative only. Refer to Power Windows Inoperative for a completely inoperative window.

Did you review the power windows system description and operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Verify that the express mode is inoperative by pressing the driver side window switch down position for more than .3 seconds and releasing the switch.

Does the window travel to the full down position after releasing the switch?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the power window control module connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition leaving the engine OFF.
  4. Probe the ignition 3 voltage circuit of the power window control module connector with a test lamp connected to a known good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

  1. Probe the power window motor right front up circuit of the power window control module connector with a test lamp connected to a known good ground.
  2. Press the driver side window switch up position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 6

Repair the open in the power window control module ignition 3 voltage circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 9

Repair the open in the power window switch right front up circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 9

Test for poor connections at the power window control module connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Replace the power window control module.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
