Operate all of the power windows up and down.

Are all of the power windows inoperative?

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the power window switch connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, leaving the engine OFF.
  4. Probe the ignition 3 voltage circuit of the power window switch connector with a test lamp connected to a known good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Test for an open in the power window switch ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 22

Operate the driver side power window up and down.

Is the driver side power window inoperative?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the power window control module connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, leaving the engine OFF.
  4. Probe the power window master switch right front down signal circuit of the power window control module connector with a test lamp connected to a known good ground.
  5. Press the driver side window switch DOWN position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Probe the power window motor right front up circuit of the power window control module connector with a test lamp connected to a known good ground.
  2. Press the driver side window switch UP position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

  1. Probe the power window motor right front down circuit of the power window control module connector with a test lamp connected to a known good ground.
  2. Press the driver side window switch DOWN position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

  1. Reconnect the power window control module connector (if disconnected).
  2. Disconnect the inoperative power window motor.
  3. Probe the power window motor down circuit of the power window motor connector with a test lamp connected to a known good ground.
  4. Press the window switch DOWN position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

  1. Probe the power window motor up circuit of the power window motor connector with a test lamp connected to a known good ground.
  2. Press the window switch UP position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test for an open or short to ground in the power window switch right front down circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for an open or short to ground in the power window switch right front up circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or short to ground in the power window motor down circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or short to ground in the power window switch ignition 3 voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
