DEFINITION: This diagnostic table tests for power folding mirror inoperative only. Refer to power mirrors inoperative for horizontal or vertical inoperative.

Press the retract switch.

Are both mirrors inoperative?

Go to Step 3

Press the horizontal/vertical position switch for each mirror.

Does any position operate?

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the power folding mirror module
  2. Connect a test lamp between the retract switch signal and a known good ground.
  3. Press the retract switch.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

Go to Step 5

Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit and ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Connect a test lamp between the ground circuit and battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the outside mirror connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the folding mirror motor extend limit switch signal and the folding mirror motor extend circuit.
  3. Press the retract switch.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

  1. Connected between the folding mirror motor retract limit switch signal and the folding mirror motor retract circuit.
  2. Press the retract switch.
