Operate both rear power windows up and down from each rear door switch.

Are both rear power windows inoperative from the rear door switch?

Test for an open in the passenger door lockout switch ignition 3 voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for an open in the passenger door lockout switch signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the inoperative power window motor connector.
  2. Turn ON the ignition leaving the engine OFF.
  3. Probe the rear power window motor up circuit of the power window motor connector with a test lamp connected to a known good ground. (Ensure that the lockout switch is in the unlock position.)
  4. Press the rear switch up position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

  1. Probe the rear power window motor down circuit of the power window motor connector with a test lamp connected to a known good ground. (Ensure that the lockout switch is in the unlock position.)
  2. Press the rear switch down position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 12

  1. Backprobe the rear power window motor rear up circuit of the inoperative power window switch with a test lamp connected to a known good ground. (Do not disconnect the switch connector.)
  2. Press the power window switch up position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Backprobe the rear power window motor rear down circuit of the inoperative power window switch with a test lamp connected to a known good ground. (Do not disconnect the switch connector.)
  2. Press the power window switch down position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Repair the open or short to ground in the power window motor rear up circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
