Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems

1. Block the wheels or set the parking brake.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
3. Disconnect the backup lamp switch (M/T) or the park/neutral position switch (A/T).

Do the backup lamps turn OFF?

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 4

Replace or adjust the backup lamp switch (M/T) or the park/neutral position switch (A/T). Refer to Backup Lamp Switch Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Repair the short to power in the Back up lamp feed Circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

System OK
