Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the hood.
  2. Remove the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement-Upper.
  3. Remove the hood latch. Refer to Hood Latch Replacement.
  4. Remove the front end discriminating sensor from the hood latch support. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor Replacement in SIR.

  5. Object Number: 581833  Size: SH
  6. Remove the lower bolts (3) from the hood latch support (2).
  7. Remove the upper bolts (1) from the hood latch support (2).
  8. Remove the hood latch support (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 581833  Size: SH
  1. Install the hood latch support (2) to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the lower bolts (3) to the hood latch support (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Install the upper bolts (1) to the hood latch support (2).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 27 N·m (20 lb in).

  7. Install the front end discriminating sensor to the hood latch support. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor Replacement in SIR.
  8. Install the hood latch. Refer to Hood Latch Replacement.
  9. Install the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement-Upper.
  10. Lower the hood.
