Did you review the Seat Belt System Circuit Description and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Close the drivers door.
  2. Do not connect the drivers seat belt.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  4. The seat belt warning alarm should chime approximately one chime per second for approximately 5 seconds.
  5. The seat belt indicator flashes.

Does the seat belt warning system operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Inspect the seat belt indicator bulb filament. Replace as necessary.
  2. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector 1.
  3. Test for an open in the RED/BLU wire between the multifunction alarm module connector 2 terminal 9 and the instrument cluster connector 1 terminal 2.

Is an open present?

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector 2.
  2. Test for an open in the RED/YEL wire between the multifunction alarm module connector 2 terminal 2 and the instrument cluster connector 2 terminal 7.

Is an open present?

Go to Step 5

Repair the open. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 7

Replace the multifunction alarm module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 7

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
