When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
A customer may notice the truck having a reduction in range after it has been sitting for an extended period of time.
Reprogram the Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) with new software. The new software, available from Techline starting in May 2002 on TIS 2000, version 5.5 update or later, will force battery leveling to occur every 6 charge cycles. The new calibration will cause an increase of 10-15 minutes per charge cycle due to the new charging strategy.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
