Did you review the Exterior Lights Circuit Description and the Headlights/Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Circuit Description and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Verify that the DRL system operates normally and that the exterior lamps are inoperative from the head lamp switch.

Are the exterior lamps inoperative?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

  1. Disconnect the headlamp switch at connector 216. Refer to Lighting Systems Components .
  2. Measure the resistance through the switch contacts with the switch in the PARK and HEAD positions.

Is the resistance 0-2ohms in both positions?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Replace the headlamp switch. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement in SIR.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 8

Connect a test lamp between connector 216 terminal 17 and B+.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Repair the open in the RED/BLU wire between C216 and S239. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 8

Repair the open in the BLK wire between C216 and S207. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 8

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
