Subject: | Incorrect Fuel Gauge Reading/Binding Fuel Sensor Float Arm (Install New Fuel Tank Strap Spacers and Bolts) |
Models: | 1999 Chevrolet Tracker |
Some customers may comment that after fueling their vehicle, the fuel gauge reading may be incorrect and that it appears to be stuck, indicating approximately 1/4 tank of fuel.
Inadequate clearance between the fuel level sender float arm and a baffle internal to the fuel tank may result in an actual contact condition between the arm and baffle. This contact may then result in an inaccurate input to the fuel gauge and an erroneous reading being indicated.
Install new fuel tank strap bolts and spacers contained in service kit, P/N 91175703, at the fuel tank strap to the underbody front attachments following the procedure indicated below:
Tighten
Tighten the fuel tank strap attaching bolt to 35N·m(26 lb ft).
