Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 714939  Size: MH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the 9 nuts that retain the assist step (2) to the vehicle.
  3. Lower the vehicle in order to gain the necessary clearance to remove the assist step (2).
  4. Remove the assist step (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the assist step (2) to the vehicle. Secure the step with 1 nut at each end of the step. Do not tighten completely at this time.
  2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the remaining 7 nuts that retain the assist step (2).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten all 9 assist step nuts to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).

  6. Lower the vehicle.
