Removal Procedure
- Remove the radiator cap.
- Open the drain plug (3).
Drain the coolant to a level below the thermostat.
- Close the drain plug (3).
- Remove the hose clamp
(1) and the radiator inlet
hose (3).
- Remove the four bolts
securing the shroud (1)
to the radiator (4).
- Remove
the four fan clutch mounting nuts.
- Remove the shroud, the fan clutch (4), and the cooling fan (3)
together.
- Remove four nuts and washers from the cooling fan (3) and remove
the fan clutch (4).
- Inspect the cooling fan (3) for the following conditions:
- Replace the cooling fan if necessary.
- Inspect the fan clutch (4) for the following conditions:
- Replace the fan clutch if necessary.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Connect the cooling
fan (3) to the fan clutch (4). Secure with the four washers and nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the cooling fan nuts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
Important: The fan clutch, cooling fan and shroud must be installed together because
of insufficient clearance to install these parts in separate steps.
- Install the fan clutch (4), cooling fan (3) and shroud. Secure the components
with the four fan clutch nuts and four shroud bolts.
Tighten
• | Tighten the fan clutch nuts to 11 N·m (97 lb in). |
• | Tighten the shroud bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in). |
- Install the radiator inlet
hose (3).
- Position the hose over the radiator flare.
- Secure with a hose clamp (1).
- Fill the radiator with an approved coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in this section.
- Start the engine.
- Bring the coolant to operating temperature (the hoses will be
warm to the touch and the coolant will flow through the radiator).
- Check for leaks in the cooling system.
- Shut off the engine and install the radiator cap.
