Removal Procedure
- Remove the radiator cap.
- Start the engine.
- Operate the engine for 15 minutes.
- Stop the engine.
- Open the drain plug (3)
on the radiator in order to drain the coolant.
- Loosen and reposition
the radiator outlet hose clamp (1) that secures the radiator outlet pipe
(2) to the radiator outlet hose #1 (8).
- Loosen and reposition radiator outlet hose clamp (1) that secures
the radiator outlet pipe (2) to the radiator outlet hose #2 (3).
- Remove one bolt and the radiator outlet pipe (2) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Position the new hose
clamps (1) on the open ends of the radiator outlet hoses #1 (8) and #2 (3)
before installing the radiator outlet pipe (2).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Secure the radiator
outlet pipe (2) to the vehicle with one bolt in the outlet pipe support.
Tighten
Tighten the outlet pipe support bolt to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
- Install the radiator hoses #1 (8) and #2 (3) to the radiator outlet
pipe (2).
- Position the hose over the coolant intake pipe flares.
- Secure the hose with hose clamps (1).
- Fill the radiator with an approved coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
