Removal Procedure
- Remove the radiator cap.
- Start the engine.
- Operate the engine for 15 minutes.
- Stop the engine.
- Open the drain plug (3)
on the radiator in order
to drain the coolant into a container.
- Loosen and reposition
the four hose clamps (1).
- Remove the following hoses from the coolant intake pipe (5):
• | The two bypass hoses (6). |
• | The radiator outlet hose #1 (8). |
• | The heater core inlet hose (4). |
- Remove one bolt from the coolant intake pipe support. Remove the
coolant intake pipe (5) from the vehicle.
- Remove the O-ring from the coolant intake pipe (5).
Installation Procedure
- Position new hose clamps
on the open ends of the following hoses before installing the hoses to the
coolant intake pipe (5):
• | On the two bypass hoses (6). |
• | On the radiator outlet hose #1 (8). |
• | On the heater core inlet hose (4). |
- Install a new O-ring (7) to the coolant intake pipe (5).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the coolant
intake pipe to the vehicle and secure the pipe with one bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the coolant intake pipe bolt to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
- Install the following hoses to the coolant intake pipe (5):
• | The two bypass hoses (6). |
• | The radiator outlet hose #1 (8). |
• | The heater core inlet hose (4). |
- Position the hoses over the coolant intake pipe flares.
- Secure with the four hose clamps.
- Fill the radiator with an approved coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in this section.
