GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

The battery carrier and hold down bracket should be clean and free from corrosion before battery installation. The carrier should be in good condition with a minimal amount of corrosion so that it will hold the battery securely and keep it level.

Important: Make certain that there are no parts or tools in the battery carrier before installing the battery.

To prevent the battery from shaking in its carrier, the hold down bracket nuts must be tightened to specification. Refer to Battery Replacement for proper battery, carrier and hold down bracket service.
