Removal Procedure
- Remove the cotter pin
and the clevis pin from the brake booster pushrod (1).
- Remove the pushrod clevis from the brake pedal.
- Remove the brake pedal
shaft bolt (1) and nut.
Important: Note the location of the brake pedal return spring before removal.
- Slide the brake pedal pivot shaft bolt out and remove the brake pedal
from the vehicle.
- Remove the brake pedal return spring (2) from the brake pedal
(5).
- Remove the two brake pedal bushings (3) from the brake pedal (5).
- Remove the brake pedal spacer (4) from the brake pedal (5).
- Remove the brake pedal pad (6) from the brake pedal (5).
Installation Procedure
- Install the brake pedal
pad (6) to the brake pedal (5).
- Lubricate the brake pedal spacer (4), bushing (3) and pivot shaft
bolt (1) with chassis lubricant GM P/N 1052497, or the equivalent.
- Install the brake pedal spacer (4) to the brake pedal (5).
- Install the two brake pedal bushings (3) to the brake pedal (5).
- Install the brake pedal return spring (2) to the brake pedal (5).
- Install the brake pedal (5) to the vehicle.
- Slide the brake pedal pivot shaft bolt (1) through the brake pedal
pivot shaft. Secure the brake pedal pivot shaft bolt (1) with one nut. Do
not tighten fully.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install
the brake pedal (2) to the brake booster push rod clevis (1). Secure the brake
pedal with the clevis pin and the cotter pin.
Tighten
Tighten the brake pedal pivot shaft bolt nut to 30 N·m
(22 lb ft).
