For 1990-2009 cars only
- Insert the stoplamp switch threads (2) into the mounting bracket (4) and turn the switch clockwise. Secure with a locknut. Do not tighten fully.
- Pull the brake pedal toward the stoplamp switch.
- Adjust the clearance between the end of the stoplamp switch threads and the brake pedal return cushion by turning the stoplamp switch either clockwise or counterclockwise until the clearance is within 1.5-2.0 mm (0.06-0.08 in).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the stoplamp switch locknut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
